Couples Therapy Policy: Limited Secrets

Couples Therapy Policy: Limited Secrets

Effective Date: 05/22/2025

At Empowered Perspectives Counseling (EPC), we honor the complexity and uniqueness of every relationship. Our approach to couples therapy is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for your autonomy and shared goals.

We understand that couples seek therapy for many reasons—some are looking to strengthen their connection, others are navigating difficult transitions or exploring the future of their relationship. Our role is not to decide whether you stay together or part ways. Instead, we’re here to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your concerns with openness, honesty, and clarity. Together, we will identify your shared and individual goals and work intentionally to support progress toward those goals—whatever they may be.

As part of the therapeutic process, there may be times when one partner communicates individually with their EPC therapist—whether by phone, email, or in person. While we respect your privacy, we also prioritize the relationship's health. Any information shared individually may be thoughtfully integrated into your couple's work if it seems therapeutically important to your goals. We always strive to use clinical judgment with sensitivity and transparency, and you are welcome to ask questions about this process at any time.

Each partner will be asked to sign a document affirming understanding; in doing so, you acknowledge that you understand and accept EPC’s approach to couples therapy and are entering this work with a shared commitment to growth, trust, and mutual respect.
